How often is the site updated?
The site is updated every evening before midnight (I will have a message on the main page if it will take longer.

Why don't you automate the site by using CGI script or ASP?
I could but that takes the effort away. I find it fun to read the ads as I updated the site and see what's going on in St. Louis. I have even made some friends. By reading the ads I can delete ads that are from people far away, have bad language (kids do look at this site), or have nothing to do with music. You never have to see any of this trash. I guess my point is I like to keep the site personal.

I sent an ad (or update). Why don't I see it posted? (or) My ad wasn't posted but someone else that lives in my same area had their ad posted.
Here are the reasons why an ad would not be posted:

  • The area in which you live is located too far from St. Louis, Missouri. If you live closer to another major city, such as Chicago or Kansas City than St. Louis, your ad will most likely not be added. Click here to see map.
  • You did not include all required information in your post. If you leave out the Zip Code, or any other important information necessary to complete your ad
  • If you type your entire ad IN CAPS
  • You place contact information within the ad
  • If there is inappropriate language in your ad
  • Ad has nothing to do with music
  • You placed HTML tags into your ad
  • (updates only) - Your e-mail did not match the original ad and/or you did not respond to the security request that was sent
  • For Sale Section - I do allow ads placed in the "For Sale" section to live farther away than people looking for a band or band members. Click here to see map.

My ad meets the requirements listed above and still is not on the site.

First of all, be patient.

I had one person e-mail me saying how mad he was that his ad was not placed on the site even though he posted a few days before. The ad had been posted, he just had the auto refresh turned off and he was looking at a cache page. So before you e-mail me a nasty note, please retrieve a current copy of the web page in question.

I have also seen multiple ads posted on the site. For example one person posted the same ad (wording was a little different) 6 times in a month in order to have their ad located with the newer ads. This just creates trash on the site that more people have to view through. I don't mind if people want to change their ad or ask to have the date updated but posting multiple times will most likely get all your ads deleted and possibly banned from the site for a long time. I have already started putting together my "spam" list of names and addresses. Just don't do it.

You say you don't allow HTML tags in ads yet I see web links in some ads. How do they do that?
If you want to have a link to your band, or pictures of items you are selling, etc. You should just place the URL in the ad where you want it or in the contact information section. Please remember, don't use HTML tags yourself. Just place the URL and I will format it for you. For example if someone has a very long URL I will place a "click here" or something along those lines so it doesn't take up unnecessary room. If you have any questions about this that I haven't cleared up just .

I updated my ad and confirmed the update as requested, then my ad disappeared from the site. What happened?
Most likely the ad is still on the site. Look at the most current ads. All ads that are updated will be placed with the newest ads and will run for 1 month from the most current update. (2 months for band postings)

Why was my ad placed in a different section than what I had selected?
If I feel your ad is better suited in a different section then I reserve the right to move it. For example I receive ads saying Musicians Wanted even though it is only one person that is looking to join a band. This ad would be better placed in Musicians Available. Any promotion, such as a band saying they are available to play jobs, would not post in "Musicians Available" but rather in "Extra". Read the heading on each classified page carefully before posting.

When will my ad expire?
One month from the date posted - Two months for "bands for hire" ads
